During the Sierra Foothills summer, it’s not unusual to hear the expression “pray for rain.“ Sometimes, Mother Nature laughs and gives us Virga. On the horizon: clouds promising some needed relief. In reality: it’s so hot the rain evaporates before it reaches the ground.
This can holds a ciderkin, a very old style of cider traditionally made by rehydrating apple pomace for a second pressing. We used one of our favorite crab apples and Mother Nature surprised us once more -- instead of the lightly flavored, low abv beverage we expected, we got a rich, dynamic, imperial-strength elixir!
She had her own plans.
Tasting Notes: pineapple, pear, sage brush
